Official sources and change history

The guide uses one dated source register. It keeps the original publication, language-specific corrections, later amendments and non-binding guidance separate.

Original publication

Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 was published in the Official Journal on 12 July 2024. The archived English PDF is the authentic publication. The English XHTML is stored to support structured references. The metadata XML identifies all 24 language editions but contains no body of the law.

Current explanation

The project's explanation is a dated reading of the original act together with the corrections and amendments identified below. It is not an official consolidated text. The project will only call a consolidation official when EUR-Lex publishes it as such.

Application timeline used by this guide

  • 2 August 2026 — most general rules and Article 50 apply.
  • 2 December 2026 — new Article 5 provisions introduced by Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 apply.
  • 2 December 2026 — narrow Article 50(2) provider-marking transition ends for relevant generative systems placed on the market before 2 August 2026.
  • 2 December 2027 — relevant Annex III high-risk provisions apply.
  • 2 August 2028 — relevant Annex I product-related high-risk provisions apply.
